Canyon Spectral:ON: Everything You Need to Know

The Canyon Spectral:ON that came back for 2026 is a carbon full-suspension trail bike with a Shimano mid-drive and an 800 watt-hour pack. It is not a Bosch bike. eMTB-News, in January 2026, described a relaunch after a battery recall: Shimano EP801, 85 newton-meters, 800 watt-hours, 160 mm in front, 155 mm in the rear, mullet wheels, and European prices cut to €3,999–€5,999. Vital MTB’s 2026 CF 7 card says Class 1, 20 mph in the US, the same EP801 and 800 watt-hours, and $5,249. Canyon’s own US outlet page for a Spectral:ON CF 9 says Shimano EP8, not EP801, an 800 watt-hour pack, a 160 mm fork, 53.80 pounds, and $4,949 from $6,799. The 2026 bike, and the one still in the archive

EP8 and EP801 are both Shimano. They are not a Bosch, and they are not each other. The US outlet sentence says EP8. The 2026 spec stories say EP801. Read the motor line on the bike you are paying for. Velomotion’s test of a CF 9 put peak at up to 600 watts and the motor mass around 2.7 kilograms. Six hundred watts of peak is not a Class 3 sticker. Vital’s US card is Class 1, assist to 20 mph. The class page is the cap. The motor is a mid-drive. Eighty-five newton-meters is at the crank, not at a hub.

The battery that brought the bike back

eMTB-News said the recall was finished and the Spectral:ON and the Torque:ON returned with new packs. Velomotion described the cells as a 5.6 amp-hour type in an aluminum case, the pack itself about 4.65 kilograms, and the energy as 800 watt-hours. The case is why the bike is heavier than a light-assist carbon bike. It is also the point of the relaunch. Canyon’s US CF 9 page claims up to 85 kilometers and 1,900 meters of climbing. It does not attach a rider weight. Eighty-five kilometers on 800 watt-hours is about 9.4 watt-hours a kilometer. That is the claim turned into arithmetic, not a loop this desk rode. The watt-hour page is the reading. Do not treat 85 kilometers as the day you will have in Turbo.

European list prices after the cut, as eMTB-News printed them: CF 7 €3,999, CF 8 €4,499, CF 9 €4,999, CFR €5,999. Those used to be €1,200 to €3,000 higher on that same table. A US dollar is not a euro. The only US dollar tags this desk pulled were the CF 9 outlet at $4,949 from $6,799, and Vital’s CF 7 at $5,249. The Swedish and Swiss shops also list a Spectral:ONfly, which is a TQ HPR 50 bike. That is not this Spectral:ON. Do not buy the fly because the name shares a colon.

Bosch is not on this sheet. The 2026 motor argument is EP801 versus the US page that still says EP8. The battery argument is 800, not 504.

Who it is for

Buy it if you want a direct-sale carbon trail bike with a full Shimano and an 800 watt-hour pack, and if you will read whether the page says EP801 or EP8 before you click. The fork and the shock change with the build. eMTB-News’ CFR is a Fox 38 Factory. The CF 7 on that table is a RockShox Lyrik. Vital’s CF 7 weight is 53 pounds and change. That is a full-power e-MTB, not a 40-pound analog trail bike. Canyon prints a 6-year warranty on Canyon-made parts on the US page. That is the frame and Canyon’s own pieces, not a blanket on the Shimano motor.

The Santa Cruz Heckler is the dealer carbon bike on the same list. The one still tagged Heckler is a 720 watt-hour EP801 generation. The Heckler SL is the Fazua, and it is lighter. Cross-shop the pack and the motor name. Do not cross-shop the word “trail.” A Class 1 bike at 20 mph is the US card Vital printed. It does not become a 28 mph bike because the peak line says 600 watts. If the US cart still offers the aluminum 8.0 with the E8000 and the 504 watt-hour pack, that is the previous bike. It is not a discount version of the 2026 one.
