5 Ebike Routes Worth the Battery — If the Rules Allow You

The short answer
Five routes that actually exist on a map: Canyonlands White Rim (permits, e-bikes allowed on roads), Oregon / Pacific Coast, the Great Allegheny Passage, Tampa’s Pinellas Trail, and your local rail-trail. Range brochures lie in the wind. Class signs and permits do not.
An ebike makes a long route possible on a Saturday. Land managers still decide if that motor is welcome. Confirm current class rules the week you ride — parks change this faster than product pages do.
The five
White Rim Road, Canyonlands National Park, Utah — a ~100-mile 4WD/bike loop on a sandstone bench below Island in the Sky. NPS allows bicycles including e-bikes on park roads; there is no singletrack. Day-use permits are required (50 bikes per day quota; $6 reservation plus park entrance). Overnight needs a backcountry permit. The park warns that driving or riding the full loop in one day is a very long, slow day. Carry water. There is almost none on the road.
Oregon Coast Bike Route — the state’s mapped coastal route (USBR 95 / Highway 101 and connected paths): bridges, headwind, fog. Class rules follow Oregon state law and local path ordinances. Pisgah National Forest, North Carolina — technical, rooty trail. U.S. Forest Service e-bike access is trail-by-trail; many singletrack systems limit motors to Class 1 or ban them. Check the Ranger District, not a Strava heatmap. Kingdom Trails, Vermont — a private network; e-MTB policy is posted by the Kingdom Trails Association and has changed before. Marin County fire roads, California — fire-road climbing with city views; Marin and Golden Gate NRA rules distinguish Class 1 from throttle bikes. Do not assume a Class 2/3 unlock belongs on a park fire road.
City pavement is a different map. New York City caps every ebike at 15 mph inside the five boroughs. Chicago bans ebikes on the Lakefront Trail. Seattle’s Burke-Gilman is a regional path with posted mixed-use etiquette. The Fred Marquis Pinellas Trail (St. Petersburg to Tarpon Springs, ~47 miles) allows Florida-legal ebikes at 20 mph. Same motor, five rulebooks.
The motor does not decide if you belong on a trail. The land manager does.
