Intradrive GD8: 700 Watts Peak, and No Torque on the Card
Intradrive put the GD8 into production on 8 October 2026. It is 250 watts rated and 700 watts peak, with an 8-speed gearbox in the same housing. Torque is not printed. eMTB Magazine prices the Obscur Enyx from €12,500. Pinkbike leaves that price blank. The Alutech ePelmo GD8 is €11,499 including tax, and it is not the Gobao X1P.

The short answer
Intradrive’s GD8 is a mid-drive and an 8-speed gearbox, 250 watts rated and 700 watts peak. Torque is not printed. eMTB Magazine prices the Obscur Enyx from €12,500. Pinkbike leaves that price blank. The Alutech ePelmo GD8 is €11,499 with tax, and it is not the Gobao X1P already on this site.
Intradrive, in Edinburgh, says the GD8 is in series production. The announcement is 8 October 2026, at Roc d’Azur in Fréjus. The unit is a mid-drive and an 8-speed gearbox in one sealed housing, on the Shimano EP8 mount, so a frame drawn for that motor can take it. The card is 250 watts rated and 700 watts peak. Seven hundred divided by 250 is 2.8. Torque is not on the card. This desk did not ride it. The first two bikes wearing it are the Obscur Enyx and a GD8 version of the Alutech ePelmo. Neither is a bike in a U.S. shop this week.
The motor card is the same in eMTB Magazine, Mountain Bike Action’s reprint of the press release, and Pinkbike, all 8 October 2026. The bike rows are where those stories split. A blank is a number that source did not print.
| What was printed | Who printed it | |
|---|---|---|
| Rated / peak | 250 W / 700 W. Torque not printed. | All three. |
| Gears | 8 speeds, sealed, sequential. Range given as 480 percent. Shift about 0.1 seconds, wireless. | All three. |
| Mass | 4.5 kg for the motor and the gearbox. Not the bike. | All three. |
| Service | Oil change every 10,000 km. Chain or belt. | Press release, via Mountain Bike Action. |
| When the units move | To bike brands in the fourth quarter of 2026. | eMTB Magazine. |
| When the units move | 70 units on firm order. Deliveries from December 2026. | The press release. |
| Obscur Enyx | Carbon, 150 mm rear, 160 mm front, mixed wheels, chain, 840 Wh removable. Price from €12,500. | eMTB Magazine. |
| Obscur Enyx | Same travel and the 840 Wh pack. Price TBC. Pack claimed at 3,150 g and 267 Wh/kg. | Pinkbike. |
| Obscur Enyx | 820 Wh, and the same 3,150 g claim. | Canadian Cycling Magazine, the same day. |
| ePelmo GD8 | €11,499 including 19 percent VAT. 170 mm. 29-inch or mixed wheels. Gates belt. | Pinkbike and the press release. |
Seven hundred peak is not a torque figure
A European pedal-assist bicycle is written around 250 watts continuous. That is the rated number on this card. The peak is 700. The class line, where a statute bothers to name one, reads the rated watts, not the peak. Seven hundred is under 750. It is still not the number a buyer can put next to a Bosch newton-meter, because Intradrive did not print newton-meters. Ed from Intradrive, in a 29 June 2026 first look, said the power and torque numbers do not mean the same thing on a gearbox, because the ratios are different. That is his sentence. It is not a measurement, and it does not fill the blank. A gearbox that has not printed torque is not a comparison.
The 480 percent is the same kind of blank. The card says 480 percent. It does not say whether that is the high gear divided by the low gear, or the spread above the low gear. This desk will not turn it into 4.8. Four and a half kilograms is the motor and the gearbox. Times 2.2, that is 9.9 pounds. It is not the bicycle. Ten thousand kilometers between oil changes, divided by 1.609, is 6,215 miles. That interval is theirs.

The Obscur price is either €12,500 or a blank
Obscur is a new French brand, out of a composites shop called Workshape. eMTB Magazine, on 8 October, says the Enyx is hand-laid carbon, 150 mm at the back, 160 mm at the front, mixed wheels, a chain, and Obscur’s own removable 840 watt-hour battery, from €12,500. Pinkbike, the same day, prints the travel and the 840 watt-hours and then writes the price as TBC. Do not average those into €6,250. One story has a starting price. The other says it is not set. Pay the number on a cart, if a cart exists. The battery line Pinkbike adds is 3,150 grams and 267 watt-hours per kilogram. Three thousand one hundred fifty grams is 3.15 kilograms. Eight hundred forty divided by 3.15 is 266.7, which they print as 267. Eight hundred twenty divided by 3.15 is 260. Canadian Cycling Magazine, also on 8 October, prints 820 watt-hours and the same 3,150 grams. The 267 figure fits 840. It does not fit 820. Do not average the two packs into 830. Times 2.2, the pack is about 6.9 pounds. That is the battery, not the bike. No complete-bike weight is in either story.
The ePelmo GD8 is not the X1P
Alutech already sells an ePelmo, and this site already has the X1P, which is a Gobao motor and a belt, a preorder for spring 2027, with no watt-hours and no landed price on the page that story used. The GD8 bike is a different drivetrain. Pinkbike says the GD8 version is 170 mm, 29-inch or mixed wheels, a Gates belt, and €11,499 including 19 percent VAT. Eleven thousand four hundred ninety-nine divided by 1.19 is €9,663 before that tax. No U.S. price is printed. No watt-hours are printed for this version. December 2026, in the press release, is when drive units go to bike brands. It is not a date a rider can pick the bike up. Seventy units on firm order are drive units, not seventy Enyx bicycles, unless a later sentence says so. This one does not.
February 2025 was called a production spec. December 2026 is the delivery the press release now prints.
Electric Mountain Bike Network, on 16 February 2025, said Intradrive had finished industrialization and was ready to show the production-spec GD8. The press release now says the first production run is underway, with deliveries to brands from December 2026, and that twelve more brands are looking at it under a non-disclosure agreement, with more bikes through 2027. The show itself runs 7 to 11 October, in the press release. eMTB Magazine dates the unveiling to 8 October. A festival date is not a shop date. Until Obscur picks one price, and until the ePelmo GD8 prints a pack, the thing that is actually on paper is a 4.5-kilogram unit, 250 watts rated, 700 watts peak, and a torque line nobody filled in.
