The short answer
The list name is Fuel EXe. Trek’s generations note says that name is the first bike: a TQ HPR50 at 50 Nm, a 360Wh pack, and 140 mm of rear travel. The second bike is called Fuel+. It is an HPR60 at 60 Nm with 580Wh and 145 to 160 mm of rear travel. Vital’s alloy tag is $6,999.99. A shop tile is $7,699.99.
The list still says Fuel EXe. Trek’s generations note says that name is the first bike, and the second generation is Fuel+. Gen 1 is a TQ HPR50 at 50 Nm with a 360Wh pack and 140 mm of rear travel. Gen 2 is an HPR60 at 60 Nm with a 580Wh pack, and rear travel listed as 145 to 160 mm. The row on the list links here.

Same family. Two motors. Two prices for one alloy build.
Trek’s generations note, the EXe FAQ, the extender product, Vital’s EX 8 sheet, and shop tiles. Not averaged.
| What is printed | |
|---|---|
| Generations note | “Fuel EXe made the switch to Fuel+ in its second generation.” Gen 1: 140 mm rear, 150 mm front, 29er, TQ HPR50 (50 Nm), 360Wh, black-and-white display. Fuel+: 145 to 160 mm rear, 150 to 170 mm front, 29er or geometry-corrected MX, HPR60 (60 Nm), 580Wh, color display on the 9.8 and 9.9. No dollar on that note. |
| EXe FAQ | A swap from HPR50 to HPR60 adds 10 Nm, and firmware “will only allow you to get 300 watts of peak mechanical power.” The chassis “is only compatible with the 360wh internal battery.” The extender there is 900 grams and “approximately 40% additional range.” Under 10 percent charge, output drops to 110 watts. |
| Extender product | 160 watt-hours, “up to 44%,” and 950 grams. UL 2271 is on that accessory card. 900 grams and 950 grams are two weights. Forty percent and 44 percent are two range lines. |
| Vital, Fuel+ EX 8 | $6,999.99. Class 1. “TQ HPR60… 60 Nm max torque, 350 W peak power, 300 W maximium continuous power.” 580 Wh, optional 160 Wh extender. Weight 46 lb 7.6 oz (21,080 g). Small sizes are mixed wheels. A GB Fuel+ FAQ says the full 350 watts exist only on the new bike. |
| Shop tiles and closeout | Family tiles this desk read: EX 5 at $6,099.99, EX 8 at $7,699.99, EX 9.7 at $8,699.99, EX 9.9 at $11,499.99, “starting at $6,099.99.” Closeout Fuel EXe 8 GX AXS: $4,799.93 from $7,999.99. Closeout EXe 5: $3,599.93 from $5,999.99. An Alltricks card for the older alloy 8 prints 20.10 kg and 44.32 lb, 250 watts continuous, 300 watt peak, 360 Wh. |
Fifty newton-metres and sixty are not a rounding. Three hundred sixty watt-hours and five hundred eighty are not a rounding. Vital’s $6,999.99 and the shop’s $7,699.99 are both labeled EX 8 on a Fuel+ and they are not the closeout EXe 8 at $4,799.93. The list’s “$7,000+” sits between two of those tags and matches none of them. Forty-six pounds and 7.6 ounces is the new EX 8 line. Forty-four point three two pounds is the older alloy 8. The generations note prints neither.
If the downtube still says EXe, the FAQ keeps the pack at 360Wh and a motor swap at 300 watts peak. The 350-watt peak line is the Fuel+ sheet.
Who it is for
It is the quiet trail bike, not the Turbo Levo 4. That Specialized is the full-power long-travel bike. A Heckler is the other full-power carbon on this list. Vital calls the Fuel+ EX 8 Class 1, which is assist without a throttle. The class chart is that distinction. The watt-hour page is 360 beside 580, not a pack in between.
Questions people ask
Where does the 350-watt peak come from?+
Vital’s Fuel+ sheet prints 350 W peak and 300 W continuous, and it calls that bike Class 1. Trek’s EXe FAQ says a motor swap onto the older chassis is still limited to 300 watts of peak mechanical power. A GB Fuel+ FAQ says the full 350 watts exist only on the new bike. Do not hang 350 on an HPR50 frame.
What does the range-extender card weigh?+
The EXe FAQ prints 900 grams and about 40 percent more range, and it says the chassis takes only the 360Wh pack. The extender product card prints 160 watt-hours, 950 grams, and up to 44 percent. Under a 10 percent charge, that FAQ cuts output to 110 watts. None of those lines is a ridden loop.
Is $7,000 the checkout price?+
No. Family tiles this desk read start at $6,099.99 on the EX 5, then $7,699.99 on one EX 8, $8,699.99 on a 9.7, and $11,499.99 on a 9.9. Vital’s EX 8 is $6,999.99. The older GX AXS build is on closeout at $4,799.93 from $7,999.99. The list’s “$7,000+” is not a tag.
Which mass belongs to which motor?+
Vital prints 46 lb 7.6 oz, and 21,080 g, for the new alloy build. An Alltricks card for the older alloy 8 prints 20.10 kg and 44.32 lb, with 250 watts continuous and a 300 watt peak, on the 360Wh pack. The generations note prints neither mass. Do not publish 45 lb as a blend.

What Is a Class 1, 2, and 3 E-Bike?
