Urban Arrow Recall: The Seat Bolt, Not the Whole Brand

CPSC, 1 October 2026: about 1,032 Urban Arrow cargo e-bikes in the United States, and about 134 in Canada. The front seat-post bolt can break. Nine damage reports. No injuries on that page. Stop riding. The fix is a free post.

The short answer

The CPSC recall of 1 October 2026 covers about 1,032 Urban Arrow cargo e-bikes in the United States and about 134 in Canada. One thousand thirty-two plus 134 is 1,166. The front seat-post bolt can break. Nine damage reports, and no injuries. Stop riding. Gazelle USA sends a free seat post and saddle for Family, Shorty, Cargo L/XL, and the white Tender, sold from 2016 through 2022.

Gazelle USA is recalling Urban Arrow cargo electric bikes because the front bolt in the seat-post clamp can break and the saddle can come loose. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission dated the recall 1 October 2026. The unit line is about 1,032 in the United States, and about 134 sold in Canada. One thousand thirty-two plus 134 is 1,166. Bicycle Retailer and Industry News, the same day, wrote “about 1,150.” That is not the United States figure, and it is not the sum. Sixteen bikes separate 1,150 from 1,166. Do not publish either as a correction of the other. The CPSC line is the one with a country on it.

What failedCPSC: the front bolt in the seat-post clamping mechanism can break, the seat becomes loose, fall hazard. The firm has nine reports of damage or wear at the saddle and seat-post connection. The page says no injuries have been reported.
The fixStop using the bike. Gazelle USA sends a free replacement seat post and saddle. Install it yourself with no special tools, or take it to an Urban Arrow dealer at no charge.

Two silver bolts, and a torque sentence that is not the repair

The recalled posts have two silver bolts. A later Family or a different color is not automatically in the list, and a black Tender is not the white Tender the page names. Urban Arrow’s North America page adds a clause the CPSC hazard line does not: the bolt can break if appropriate torque is not maintained on the seat-rail clamp bolts. That sentence explains a failure. It is not an instruction to torque the old bolt and keep riding. The remedy on both pages is stop, then the new post and the new saddle. A front-box cargo bike. Not a photo of a recalled Urban Arrow, and not a picture of the bolt.
Nine reports of a worn or damaged clamp. Zero injuries on the CPSC page. The instruction is still to stop, because the hazard is a fall, not a tally.

This is not every cargo bike

A Tern, a Fetch, an Abound, and an XPedition are not in this recall. The cargo page is those other load lines. This one is a seat clamp on four Urban Arrow names, sold for about $9,000, years 2016 through 2022. A 2024 or 2025 Urban Arrow is not the sentence on the CPSC page. If your post has two silver bolts and the model is on the list, the bike is in the recall until Gazelle says the new post is on it. This desk did not find a dated public film of the broken bolt. The document is the CPSC page, not a YouTube still.

Questions people ask

How many Urban Arrow bikes are in the recall?+

CPSC says about 1,032 in the United States and about 134 in Canada. The sum is 1,166. Bicycle Retailer wrote about 1,150. That is neither the U.S. line nor the sum.

Which Urban Arrow models are recalled?+

Family in black and white, Shorty in black and white, Cargo L/XL in black and white, and Tender 1000/1500 in white. Sold at specialty shops from 2016 through 2022 for about $9,000. The seat post has two silver bolts.

Has anyone been hurt?+

The CPSC page says the firm has nine reports of damage or wear where the saddle meets the seat post, and that no injuries have been reported. The instruction is still to stop using the bike. The hazard is a fall.

What is the fix?+

Stop riding. Gazelle USA sends a free replacement seat post and saddle. You can install it with no special tools, or a dealer installs it at no charge. The phone on the CPSC page is 800-838-5388. Do not treat a torque check of the old bolt as the repair.
