ALSO’s TM-B Is on Tour. Some Buyers Are Still Waiting.
The $4,500 Launch Edition was supposed to arrive in spring 2026. Electrek’s 16 September story says waves run into early November, and a demo tour is already on the road.

The short answer
ALSO’s $4,500 Launch Edition TM-B was supposed to reach buyers in spring 2026. Electrek’s 16 September story says that slipped to summer, then September, with waves into early November. The same story puts a demo tour on the road through November while some day-one buyers still lack a delivery date. The Verge’s 8 September piece quoted a Reddit apology about circuit-board supply. A tour is not a doorstep.
ALSO’s $4,500 Launch Edition TM-B is on a U.S. demo tour while some people who already paid are still waiting for a delivery date. Electrek’s 16 September 2026 story is the one this desk will use. The bike was supposed to start reaching customers in spring 2026. That window slipped to summer, then to September. Customers were told Launch Edition bikes were “now shipping,” and that deliveries would go out in waves into early November. The same story says a traveling demo program is taking the TM-B to cities from September through November. A tour stop is not a garage.
What “now shipping” did not mean
The Verge’s 8 September piece is the earlier sentence. ALSO had told people spring, then summer. Saul Leiken, the product manager, posted a 661-word apology on Reddit. The holdup, in that letter, is supply: printed circuit boards and integrated circuits, with the AI boom named as the demand that made parts hard to get. Engineers had to source and requalify substitutes. That is a manufacturing sentence. It is not a tracking number. Electrek, eight days later, still found day-one reservation holders who did not have an individual delivery date. “Now shipping” and “I do not have a date” are both in the record. Do not average them into “most people have the bike.”
Two stories, one bike. Prices and windows are theirs, not a cart this desk opened.
| Source | Date | The sentence |
|---|---|---|
| The Verge | 8 Sept 2026 | Spring, then summer. No customer bikes yet, in that piece. Leiken’s Reddit letter blames PCB and IC supply. |
| Electrek | 16 Sept 2026 | $4,500 Launch Edition. “Now shipping,” in waves into early November. Demo tour September–November. |
| TechCrunch | 31 July 2026 | Bikes leaving the factory for a U.S. warehouse. Also expected every Launch Edition delivered between the next week and September. |
TechCrunch’s 31 July line is why September stings. The company told that reporter the Launch Edition had started shipping from the manufacturer to a U.S. warehouse, and that it expected to deliver all of those bikes between the following week and September. September is the month Electrek is still describing as waves and a tour. A warehouse is not a customer. A September promise that becomes “early November” is a third date. Keep all three.
The tour is a different audience
Electrek’s city list for the demo program: Portland, Philadelphia, Boston, Boise, Madison, Minneapolis, Sacramento, Atlanta, Bentonville, San Antonio, Nashville, Detroit, Salt Lake City, Dallas, and Tempe. A later Yahoo recap shortened that list. Use Electrek’s list. The point of the tour, in that story, is that new riders can see the bike. The point of the complaint is that people who paid $4,500 last year are watching a roadshow. Electrek also reported customers walking into shops that ALSO’s site listed as service partners, and staff who did not know they were on the list. A service pin that the shop has not heard of is not a service network.
What this desk will not pretend
This desk has not opened an ALSO checkout, has not ridden a TM-B, and has not counted how many Launch Editions have VIN-equivalents in the wild. There is no watt-hour on the paragraphs above because those stories did not print one. The Honda prototype those same days is a separate launch. It also does not have a price. If you paid $4,500, the document that matters is the date in your own email, not a city on a tour poster. If you have not paid, a demo ride is a demo ride. It is not evidence the person ahead of you in line already has a bike.
Questions people ask
When will the ALSO TM-B ship?+
Electrek on 16 September 2026 said Launch Edition bikes were “now shipping” in waves into early November. The Verge on 8 September still had no customer bikes in hand. TechCrunch on 31 July had been told deliveries would finish in September. Keep the date that is in your own email.
How much is the ALSO TM-B?+
Electrek and TechCrunch both print $4,500 for the Launch Edition. This desk did not open a checkout. A demo tour does not change that price and it does not mean your order has shipped.
Why is the ALSO e-bike delayed?+
Saul Leiken’s Reddit letter, as The Verge reported it, blames printed circuit boards and integrated circuits. The AI boom is the demand he named. That is a parts sentence. It is not a tracking number.
Where is the ALSO demo tour?+
Electrek’s list is Portland, Philadelphia, Boston, Boise, Madison, Minneapolis, Sacramento, Atlanta, Bentonville, San Antonio, Nashville, Detroit, Salt Lake City, Dallas, and Tempe, from September through November 2026. A shorter recap is a shorter list, not a cancellation.
