Aventon Level 4 ADV: Everything You Need to Know
The mid-drive Level 4 is $2,799 and 61 lb. One battery line prints 36V, 20Ah, and 800Wh. Thirty-six times 20 is 720. Electric Bike Report’s loops on the 800 label were 54.6 and 120.8 miles.

The short answer
The Aventon Level 4 ADV is the mid-drive Level 4, not the hub REC. Aventon prints $2,799, 61 pounds, an Ultro S at 100 Nm and 750 watts peak, and a pack labeled 36 volts, 20 amp-hours, and 800 watt-hours. Thirty-six times 20 is 720, not 800. It ships Class 1 and claims up to 110 miles in Eco for a 165-pound rider on the flat.

It ships as Class 1. The throttle line says compatible, not included. Claimed range is up to 110 miles for a 165-pound rider in Eco on flat pavement. Electric Bike Report’s published loops, run against the 800 label, were 54.6 miles in Turbo and 120.8 in Eco. Do not average any of those. The row links here. The hub bike stays on the Level 4 REC page.

The line that cannot be one battery
Aventon Level 4 ADV product page. The 720 figure is multiplication. Test miles are Electric Bike Report, not Aventon. CUES and the fork come from Aventon’s comparison, already quoted on the REC page.
| ADV | |
|---|---|
| Street price | $2,799. The REC on that comparison is $1,999. |
| Motor | Ultro S. 100 Nm. 750W peak. No nominal printed on this crawl. |
| Pack, as written | 36V, 20Ah, and 800Wh. Samsung 21700 58E. Pack mass 8.7 lb. |
| Pack, as multiplied | 36 × 20 = 720. Not 800. Not an average of the two. |
| Charge | 42V 4A. 5 hours. |
| Class out of the box | Class 1. Convertible to Class 2 and to Class 3. Throttle compatible, not in the box. Pedal assist unlocks to 28 mph. |
| Claimed miles | Up to 110. 165 lb. Eco. Flat pavement. |
| Camera miles | EBR: 54.6 Turbo, 120.8 Eco, using the 800 label. |
| Mass | 61 lb. REC is 68.5 lb. |
| Gears, from the comparison | Shimano CUES 10-speed with AutoShift. 100 mm fork. |
A test that used the 800 label does not turn 20 amp-hours into 22.2. Eight hundred divided by 36 is about 22.2, and Aventon did not print 22.2. They printed 20 and 800 together. Keep both. The watt-hour page is why those units are not synonyms. The charger is a 42-volt 4-amp brick and a five-hour claim, the same brick family as other 36-volt Aventon packs. Do not put a 48-volt charger on it because the plug fit.
One hundred ten is not the camera
The 110-mile sentence is Eco, 165 pounds, flat pavement. Electric Bike Report’s Turbo loop, 54.6 miles, is under that sentence. The Eco loop, 120.8 miles, is over it. Publishing a midpoint would invent a ride nobody took. The YouTube test roundup keeps the hub’s 43.8 and 97 beside these. Same protocol, different motor, different tank label. The hub’s printed watt-hours are 733, and 36 times 20 on that bike is also not 733. Two Aventon packs, two double prints.
The $800 is not a paint color
Eight hundred dollars over the REC buys the mid-drive, the lighter complete bike, the Samsung pack with the 800 label, and the auto-shift CUES setup on the comparison. It does not buy a throttle in the carton. Adding one is a class change: the page says the bike can become Class 2, Class 3, or both. A 28 mph pedal-assist unlock is the Class 3 half. A throttle is the Class 2 half, and only if the state and the path allow it. The peak is 750 watts. The federal line is less than 750. No nominal was printed on this crawl, so do not invent a 250-watt sustained figure just because the Ramblas has one.
Buy the ADV if you want the gears to do hill work and you will read the class screen before a trail. Buy the REC if you want the throttle and the lower tag. They are not interchangeable stickers on one frame. The mid-drive explainer is the mechanical difference, not a trophy.
Questions people ask
Which watt-hour figure is the battery?+
Aventon prints both 800 watt-hours and 36 volts at 20 amp-hours on one line. The multiplication is 720. Do not average them. A test that used the 800 label does not make 20 amp-hours into 22.2.
How is this different from the REC?+
This one is $2,799, 61 pounds, a mid-drive, and no throttle in the box. The REC is $1,999, 68.5 pounds, a hub, and a throttle. Aventon’s comparison prints those. The REC has its own page.
Is 110 miles the tested range?+
No. One hundred ten is the Eco estimate at 165 pounds on flat pavement. Electric Bike Report published 54.6 miles in Turbo and 120.8 in Eco. The Eco test beat the claim. The Turbo test did not. Do not publish a midpoint.
Can you add a throttle?+
Aventon says compatible, not included, and that it leaves the box as Class 1 at 20 mph of pedal assist. It also says the bike can be unlocked to 28. Adding a throttle is a class change. The 750-watt peak is not under 750.

Understanding Volts, Amps, and Watt-Hours
Voltage is pressure. Amps are flow. Watt-hours are the tank. The hangtag that only says 750W is selling you one of those three.
