Lectric XP4 vs Aventon Aventure 3
The XP4 folds and starts at $999. The Aventure 3 is $1,999, does not fold, and carries the 4G lock. Both ship as Class 2 fat-tire hubs. Their range tests are not one ride.

The short answer
The Lectric XP4 folds. It is $999 for a 500-watt hub and about 500 watt-hours, or $1,299 for 750 watts and 840 watt-hours. The Aventon Aventure 3 is $1,999, does not fold, and prints a 750-watt hub, 80 newton-meters, and a 733 watt-hour label. Both ship as Class 2. One thousand nine hundred ninety-nine minus nine hundred ninety-nine is one thousand dollars. Do not average their range tests.
The Lectric XP4 and the Aventon Aventure 3 are both fat-tire hub bikes that ship as Class 2, and they are not the same cart. The XP4 folds. It is $999 with a 500-watt hub and a 500 watt-hour pack, or $1,299 with a 750-watt hub and an 840 watt-hour pack. The Aventure 3 does not fold. This desk’s sheet still has it at $1,999, with a 750-watt rear hub, 1,188 watts peak, 80 newton-meters, and a label of 733 watt-hours. One thousand nine hundred ninety-nine minus nine hundred ninety-nine is one thousand dollars. Minus $1,299 is $700. You are buying a fold, or you are buying a 26-inch wheel, an 80 mm fork, a 400-pound payload, and Aventon’s 4G lock. Outdoor Gear Lab put all three builds on one comparison page. Those miles still do not get averaged.
XP4 rows are this desk’s 17 September 2026 sheet. Aventure rows are the 12 September sheet, plus Outdoor Gear Lab’s scale where it fights the brochure. Not averaged.

The thousand dollars is the fold
A trunk is the XP4 problem the Aventure does not solve. Unfolded, the folder is about 66×18.5×47 inches. Folded, about 37×17×29. It is still about 70 pounds. You will not carry it up a walk-up the way you carry a Brompton. You can put it in a car. The Aventure is a 26×4 bike in Regular and Large, high-step and step-through, and the sheet does not print a fold. If the bike lives in a garage and the week is sand, gravel, or a soft shoulder, the bigger wheel is the point of the extra money. If the bike has to disappear, the Aventure is the wrong $1,999.

Eighty newton-meters and fifty-five are both at the axle
All three motors are rear hubs, so the newton-meters are on the same side of the chain. The $999 prints 55 Nm. The $1,299 prints 85. The Aventure prints 80. Eighty-five minus 80 is five. That is not a hill. Fifty-five against 80 is the $999’s real motor gap, and it is still a hub, so a low gear does not multiply it. Peaks are 1,092, 1,310, and 1,188 watts. Those are bursts. The class line is the nominal. A 500-watt nominal can be a legal Class 2. A 750-watt nominal can too, if the throttle stays at 20 and the pedals work. The motor page is why a peak is not the hangtag. The packs do not swap. The XP4 is 48 volts. The Aventure is 36. Thirty-six times 20 amp-hours is 720 watt-hours. Aventon’s label on this desk’s sheet says 733. Outdoor Gear Lab’s comparison row prints 720. Thirteen watt-hours is the label fight. Do not pick a middle.
A 48-volt folder and a 36-volt fat bike are two chargers. The matched brick is the UL 2849 kit.
Three range tests, three bikes
Lectric’s claims are 50 miles and 85. Aventon’s claim is up to 65. Believe the named loops. On the 500 watt-hour XP4, Electric Bike Report printed 30.2 miles on the highest assist and 55.1 on the lowest. Five hundred divided by 30.2 is about 16.6 watt-hours a mile. Five hundred divided by 55.1 is about 9.1. Outdoor Gear Lab’s 18 March 2026 loop on that same pack was 19.1 miles with about 900 feet of climbing. Five hundred divided by 19.1 is about 26.2. On the 840 watt-hour XP4, that lab printed 36.7 miles. Eight hundred forty divided by 36.7 is about 22.9. On the Aventure, the same lab printed 28.3 miles with 1,300 feet of climbing. If you use their 720 watt-hour row, 720 divided by 28.3 is about 25.4. If you use the 733 label, it is about 25.9. Electric Bike Report’s 6 May 2025 Aventure film books 35.8 miles and 60.1 miles, turbo then eco. Seven hundred thirty-three divided by 35.8 is about 20.5. Divided by 60.1 is about 12.2. The 19.1, the 28.3, and the 60.1 are not one rider on one hill. Do not subtract them.
Which one to buy
Buy the $999 XP4 if the week is flat, the round trip fits inside a tested 25 miles, and the bike has to fold. Buy the $1,299 XP4 if you still need the fold and you want the 85 Nm hub and the 840 watt-hour tank. Buy the Aventure 3 if the bike does not have to fold, you want the 26×4 and the 80 mm fork, and you will use the 4G geofence. Aventon lists a dealer network. Lectric is the box. A 79-pound fat bike with hydraulic brakes still wants a shop that will bleed them. Neither bike is an e-MTB, and neither is a Class 3 until you open the menu where that speed is legal. The XP4 page has the fold measurements. The Aventure page has the ACU. The class chart is the 20 mph throttle.
Questions people ask
Is the Lectric XP4 or the Aventure 3 cheaper?+
The XP4. $999 for the 500-watt bike, $1,299 for the 750. The Aventure 3 is $1,999 on this desk’s sheet. That is $1,000 more than the cheap XP4 and $700 more than the 750.
Does the Aventon Aventure 3 fold?+
No. The XP4 does, to about 37 by 17 by 29 inches, and it still weighs about 70 pounds. The Aventure is a 26-by-4 bike with no fold on the sheet.
Which has more range, the XP4 or the Aventure 3?+
Depends which loop. Outdoor Gear Lab: 19.1 miles on the 500 watt-hour XP4, 36.7 on the 840, and 28.3 on the Aventure with 1,300 feet of climbing. Electric Bike Report’s Aventure film books 35.8 and 60.1. Do not average those.
Are both bikes Class 2?+
They ship that way. Throttle to 20 mph on both. Each has a menu or an app path to Class 3 pedal assist where that is legal. Opening the menu does not change a path sign.
