Tern HSD Gen 2: Everything You Need to Know
July 2026 coverage says 190 kilograms and Class 3 on some US bikes, from $4,999. Tern’s S9i card says Gen 3, a PX motor, and 418.9 lb. A live S00 card still says Gen 2, 75 Nm, and 180 kg.

The short answer
The list says HSD Gen 2. Tern’s S9i page says Gen 3, a Performance Line PX at 90 Nm and 600 percent, and a gross of 190 kg. The bullet writes 419 lb. The spec pair writes 418.9 lb. A 16 July 2026 trade note lists four bikes from $4,999, two of them at 28 mph. A live S00 sheet still says 75 Nm and 180 kg.
The list says HSD Gen 2. Tern’s own S9i card says Generation: Gen 3. That card’s motor bullet is a Bosch Performance Line PX, up to 90 Nm, and 600 percent with Performance Upgrade 2.0. The hauling bullet writes 190 kg and 419 lb, with an 80 kg and 176 lb rack. The spec pair writes 190 kg and 418.9 lb. Bike mass is 28.9 kg and 63.7 lb. Rider cap is 130 kg and 286.6 lb. One hundred ninety kilograms is 418.9 pounds if you multiply, and the bullet rounds the words to 419. Those two are a pair on one card. One hundred eighty kilograms, written 396.8 lb, is a different card, the one that still says the older generation and 75 Nm. Performance Line PX, Performance Sport, and Performance Line Sport are three names in print at 90 Nm. The S9i speed pair this desk read is 20 mph. BRAIN’s S9i Sport is 28 mph. Do not staple a Gen 3 badge onto the 180 kg sheet, and do not staple 28 mph onto a card that printed 20.
Quote the generation word that is on the bike you are ordering. Gen 3 and the live Gen 2 sheet are not one gross.
Who it is for
It is the short cargo bike, not the GSD S00. That Tern is the longer one, and both of its cards print 200 kg. A Class 3 US Sport model is a different assist cap from the Class 1 P5i in the July list. The class chart is 20 beside 28. The watt-hour page is the 545 nameplate, which the July trade note did not print and the S00 card did.
Questions people ask
Why do 419 and 418.9 both appear?+
The hauling bullet writes 190 kg and 419 lb. The spec pair on that same page writes 190 kg and the shorter pound figure. Multiplying 190 by 2.20462 lands nearer 418.9. The older sheet is a different number: 180 kg and 396.8 lb. Do not round 180 up to 190.
Which motor name sits on the 90 Nm bike?+
The PX page says Performance Line PX. Bicycle Retailer’s list says Performance Sport on the S9i Sport and the P10e Sport. Notebookcheck says Performance Line Sport for one market and a fifth-generation Performance Line for Europe. All three print 90 Nm. The S00 sheet prints 75 Nm and 340 percent.
What does the July price list contain?+
S9i Sport $7,499, P00 $5,699, P5i $4,999, P10e Sport $5,499. Two of those are assist to 20 mph. Two are assist to 28 mph. A store blurb for a P10 still priced at $4,499 also prints 180 kg. That name is not P10e Sport. Belgium’s tag is €6,699, with no Sport suffix.
Which range line matches the 545 pack?+
The S00 sheet prints 51 to 121 km, written 32 to 76 miles, on a PowerPack 545. A read of the PX page returned up to 103 km, written 64 miles. Notebookcheck printed up to 107 km, written 66 miles. The July trade note did not print a pack size. Do not average 64 and 76.
