There is no Mosquito on the GoTrax cart. Reviewers use that nickname for a Fluid scooter from $899, claiming 25-plus mph, 22 miles, and 29 pounds. The motor line is 500 watts with a 700-watt peak. The pack is 48 volts and 9.6 amp-hours, labeled 461 watt-hours. Forty-eight times 9.6 is 460.8, not 461. Insider also files the chassis as E-TWOW.
The GoTrax Mosquito on this desk’s list is a name GoTrax is not selling. Rider Guide’s July 2026 GoTrax lineup chart runs from the GXL V2 through the GX3 and does not include a Mosquito. The scooter sold as the Mosquito is Fluid Free Ride’s, built with E-TWOW. Fluid’s US page says from $899, or $82 a month, 25-plus mph, 22 miles, and 29 pounds, with a 500-watt motor and a 700-watt peak. The UK card, sold out at £699 from £899, prints 48 volts and 9.6 amp-hours, labeled 461 watt-hours, 8-by-2-inch solid tires, front drive, dual springs, a 265-pound limit, and gear 5 “up to 28 mph.” Forty-eight times 9.6 is 460.8, which they round to 461. The owner’s manual prints the same 500/700 split, the same 22 miles at 165 pounds and a constant 15 mph, IP x4, and speed locks of 5, 10, 16, and 24 mph, plus a fifth gear with no limit. Electric Scooter Insider’s 2022 review, priced then at $999, printed a realistic 18 miles, a 15-degree incline, and IPX5. The useful fact is the brand. People put “Mosquito” next to GoTrax because ESI compared the two, not because Dallas sells one. The Fluid 29-pound claim is the rare number that shows up on the US page, the overseas sheet, and that booklet. The water rating does not. The unlocked gear does not. A $499 GoTrax budget does not buy this scooter.
If the checkout says GoTrax, it is not a Mosquito. If the checkout says Fluid and $899, it is not the budget row this list used to describe.
Who it is for
Buy the Fluid Mosquito if 29 pounds and a 25 mph claim are the job, and you have read gear 5. Skip the GoTrax name entirely. The GXL V2 is the actual light GoTrax, at $299, 15.5 mph, and about 27 pounds on Rider Guide’s card. The GoTrax G4 is the 20 mph folder ESI kept using as the cheaper comparison, not a 25 mph 29-pound scooter. The KQi Air is the other light commuter this desk wrote, at 26.2 pounds, with a pack NIU does print.
Neither machine is on the class chart. No pedals. Four hundred sixty-one watt-hours divided by 22 miles is about 21 watt-hours a mile, on the Fluid label and the Fluid claim. ESI’s 18 miles is about 26. The watt-hour page is the arithmetic. That overseas sheet was sold out. The US page still showed a from-$899 line. Check the button.
Questions people ask
Why does the list brand point at the wrong shop?+
The row says GoTrax because comparison tables borrowed a nickname. The shop that takes the money is Fluid. A pass through the GoTrax catalog this crawl did not return that model. Ordering a GXL because the nickname looked familiar gets you a slower cap and a much smaller pack. Match the checkout domain before you match the adjective.
Why does the badge say 461 when the cells make 460.8?+
The label says 461 watt-hours. Multiplying 48 volts by 9.6 amp-hours gives 460.8. The label rounded up by a fraction. It did not hide a second pack. Quote the label if you are reading the badge, and quote 460.8 if you are checking the cells. Do not invent a third capacity to split the difference.
What should you do with an overseas booklet?+
A booklet and an overseas sheet have circulated with this chassis. They are not the US price. The US page starts at $899. If a manual disagrees with the badge on distance, keep both sentences and name the document. This desk is not averaging a booklet into the American checkout. Stock on the Fluid page is the stock that matters.
Is a 25-plus mph kick scooter inside any bicycle class?+
No. A kick scooter with no pedals is outside Class 1, 2, and 3 even before the pace. Twenty-five miles an hour is already over a Class 2 cap, and a 700-watt peak is a motor claim, not a class certificate. The 29-pound figure is why people shop it. The category on the chart is still scooter, not bicycle.
