The short answer

The Aventon Abound LR is the long-rack cargo bike, not the short one. Aventon’s spec block prints Class 2, 88 pounds, a 440-pound limit, up to 60 miles, 733 watt-hours, and a 1,188-watt peak. The manual prints 89 pounds and 19.88 amp-hours. A review card prints 708 watt-hours and a 1,183-watt peak. Thirty-six times 20 is 720. Shops print $1,999. The product page this desk read did not.

The Aventon Abound LR is the long-rack cargo bike. Aventon’s spec block prints Class 2, 88 pounds, a 440-pound total limit, up to 60 miles, a rider band of 4 feet 11 inches to 6 feet 3 inches, a 36-volt 20-amp-hour pack labeled 733 watt-hours, and a Shengyi hub at 750 watts, 1,188 watts peak, and 80 newton-meters. Thirty-six times 20 is 720. The row on this desk’s list links here. The short bike does not inherit this page.

733, 708, 720, and a manual that skips watt-hours

Aventon’s product block, the Abound LR user manual, Electric Bike Report’s review card (availability March 2025), OutdoorGearLab’s May 1, 2025 test, 99 Spokes (updated September 19), and Around the Cycle’s dealer page. Not averaged.

What is printed
PriceThe product page this desk read did not return a dollar. 99 Spokes prints a $1,999 manufacturer price. EBR and OutdoorGearLab print $1,999. Around the Cycle lists $1,999 and sold out.
MotorAventon: Shengyi 36V 750W hub, 1,188W peak, 80 Nm, a left-hand throttle, and a double-sided bottom-bracket torque sensor. Boost, on that page, is 120 percent of the specced torque and peak for 30 seconds. The page does not print a second watt figure. EBR: 750W nominal, 1,183W peak, 80 Nm. Around the Cycle: up to 1,440W peak in Boost.
BatteryAventon: 36V, 20Ah, 733Wh, LG 21700, pack weight 8.7 lb. Manual: 36V, 19.88Ah, and no watt-hour. EBR: 36V, 19.6Ah, 708Wh, pack 8.7 lb. OutdoorGearLab’s comparison cell prints 720Wh. The prose says the label reads 733. Around the Cycle: 48V, 15Ah, 720Wh. 36 times 20 is 720. 36 times 19.88 is 715.68. 36 times 19.6 is 705.6.
SpeedAventon: Class 2, and a speed row that says Class 2. Manual: 20 mph. EBR: Class 2, 20 mph. A May 3, 2026 FloridaBicycling post and Around the Cycle print a 25 mph unlock and call it Class 3. Digital Trends, June 30, 2025, said pedal assist in that setting goes to 25, the thumb stays at 20, and a U.S. Class 3 figure is 28.
Water and weightManual: components IPX6, bike IPX5, 89 lb. A marketing sentence on the product page says these bikes are built to IPX5. The weight cell on that page is 88 lb. EBR’s scale is 88.4 lb. EBR’s height card is 4 feet 11 inches to 6 feet 6 inches.
RangeAventon: up to 60 miles. Manual footnote: 75 kg, 86°F, 70 percent humidity, level road, lowest assist. The same manual’s expected-range rows are 35, 44, and 60 miles. EBR: 75 miles in minimum assist and 38 in maximum, called flat. OutdoorGearLab: 33.4 miles and over 1,700 feet of climbing.
The rest of the maker’s blockFork 51 mm with lockout. Tektro HD-E3520 hydraulic, front and rear. Shimano Altus 8-speed, cassette 12-32. Wheels 20 by 3.0. UL 2849, and the pack UL 2271. Warranty line: 2 years, plus a lifetime frame with registration. Manual racks: 33 lb front, 143 lb rear. Total cap: 440 lb.

Seven hundred thirty-three is what the product page prints, and what OutdoorGearLab says is on the label. Seven hundred eight is what EBR prints next to 19.6 amp-hours. The manual’s amp-hour is 19.88, and that page does not pick a watt-hour. A dealer line that says 48 volts is not the 36-volt row. One hundred twenty percent of 1,188 is 1,425.6. The dealer peak is 1,440. The motor row stops at 1,188. Do not publish 1,200 so that 1,440 looks tidy.

Thirty-six times twenty is 720. The spec block prints 733. The review card prints 708. A label and a review are two sentences. They are not an average.

Who it is for

It is the long deck: two passengers or a grocery run, at the $1,999 those shops print, on a bike the product page calls 88 pounds and the manual calls 89. It is not the Aventon Abound SR. A longer rear end is a different geometry, not a footnote. The Lectric XPedition 2 is the other longtail on this list, with three battery carts and a class menu. The cargo page is where a Tern’s gross weight sits next to a 440-pound line. Eighty-eight pounds is the bike. Four hundred forty is the total, rider included. The rear rack line is 143. The front is 33. Those two plus a rider can clear 440 before the bike’s own pounds are in the pile. The 440 is the cap.

The sensor row this desk read is a double-sided torque sensor, not a cadence switch. A blog that prints a Sensor Switch is describing a control this spec block does not. Twenty with a throttle is the speed row. Twenty-five is not the U.S. Class 3 number, and it is not on that block. The class chart is the argument. The watt-hour page is 36 times 20, and then the labels that are not 720. The UL 2849 line is on the certification row. Sixty miles is the claim with the manual’s footnote. Seventy-five, 38, and 33.4 are tests. This desk did not blend them.

Questions people ask

What does this cargo bike cost?+

Shops and 99 Spokes print $1,999. The product page this desk read did not return a dollar. The short cargo bike is a different row and a different price.

Which watt-hour is printed on the pack?+

The spec block prints 733 at 36 volts and 20 amp-hours. The manual prints 19.88 amp-hours and no watt-hour. A review card prints 708 at 19.6 amp-hours. Thirty-six times 20 is 720. Do not average 708 and 733.

Does it ship as Class 3?+

The spec block says Class 2, and the manual says 20 mph. A dealer page and a 2026 blog print a 25 mph unlock. A 2025 write-up said the thumb stays at 20 in that setting. Twenty-eight is the usual U.S. Class 3 assist speed. It is not on the maker’s speed row.

How is the longer deck different from the short cargo bike?+

This page is the stretched rear end: 88 or 89 pounds depending on the document, a 440-pound cap, and the same electrical fight as the shorter bike’s labels. The short one has its own article. Do not shop one geometry under the other name.
