The short answer
The Talaria Sting R MX4 is an electric dirt bike with a gearbox and a chain, not a Class 1–3 e-bike. Dealer sheets that agree say 8 kW peak, 4 kW nominal, at least 45 Nm at the motor, a 60V 45Ah pack, and about 145 pounds. That pack is 2,700 watt-hours. A blog’s 520 Nm line is not those sheets. Printed prices run from about $3,499 to $4,899.
The Talaria Sting R MX4 is an electric dirt bike with a gearbox and a chain, not a Class 1, 2, or 3 e-bike. The dealer sheets that match each other say an air-cooled IPM motor, 4,000 watts nominal, 8,000 watts peak, at least 45 newton-meters at the motor, a 60-volt 45-amp-hour LG 21700 pack, and about 145 pounds with the battery. Sixty times 45 is 2,700 watt-hours. Top speed on those pages is not one figure: 53 mph on one US card, about 52.8 mph on a Canadian card that also says the bike can ship limited to 32 km/h, and 50 to 55 mph on another dealer. A May 1, 2026 Dirt Bike Store ranking printed $4,899 and “520 Nm versus 440 Nm” against a Light Bee, with no dyno. Talaria’s own motor line on the agreeing sheets is 45 newton-meters. The row on this desk’s list links here.

The sheet the dealers repeat, and the one that doesn’t
Agreeing lines from Talaria-branded US cards and Smartwheel’s Canadian spec block. The right column is what other pages print instead. Do not blend them.
| Sheets that agree | The other print | |
|---|---|---|
| Motor | IPM, 4,000 W nominal, 8,000 W peak | One review site says PMSM and 6,000 W rated |
| Torque | 45 N·m, or “at least 45,” at the motor | Dirt Bike Store and one UK page: about 520 N·m at the wheel |
| Battery | 60V 45Ah, LG 21700, 2,700 Wh | A UK page says Samsung or LG and does not stick to 45 Ah |
| Weight | 66 kg / 145 lb with the battery | That UK page: about 82 kg |
| Wheels | 19 in front and rear. 70/100-19 and 80/100-19 | That UK page: 19 in front, 16 in rear |
| Brakes | 4-piston hydraulic, 220 mm rotors on the US cards | That UK page: 200 mm front, 170 mm rear |
| Speed | 53 mph, or about 85 km/h, on two cards | Smartwheel also says factory limited to 32 km/h. Dirt Bike Store: 50 mph. |
| Range | Up to 75 miles or 120 km at about 15–16 mph | Not a trail loop. No rider weight on that line. |
| Price | One US card: $3,499–$3,699. Another: $3,799–$4,500. | Dirt Bike Store, May 1, 2026: $4,899. Smartwheel: C$5,999. |
Forty-five newton-meters at the motor and 520 newton-meters at the wheel can both be true on a gearbox bike, because the gear multiplies torque and the pages do not say they measured the same place. They can also be a copied number. Ultra Bee cards use 520 newton-meters at the wheel for a 24.5 kilowatt bike. The Dirt Bike Store table puts 520 on the MX4 and 440 on a Light Bee, and it also says that Light Bee is a 60-volt 40-amp-hour bike. This desk’s Light Bee X page is the 2026 card, about 10 kilowatts and a 72-volt pack, not that table. Do not take the 520-versus-440 line as a 2026 dyno. Take it as a blog. The motor sheet that repeats is 8 kilowatts peak and 45 newton-meters at the motor.
Eight kilowatts is the peak the agreeing sheets print. Forty-five newton-meters is the motor line. Five hundred twenty is a wheel claim on a page that also got the Light Bee wrong.
Gearbox, chain, and a governor
The transmission on the agreeing sheets is a gearbox, then a chain. Smartwheel prints gear ratios of 8.35 with a 44-tooth rear and 9.18 with a 48-tooth rear. That is why a small motor newton-meter can become a large number at the tire, and why this bike does not feel like a belt-drive Light Bee. It is also why you do not compare “peak torque” across a blog that never says where the sensor was. Regen is four levels on those sheets. Seat height is about 840 mm. Max load is about 220 pounds. Battery weight on the Smartwheel block is 12.8 kg. Charge time is about three hours on the US card that prints one. None of that is a pedal bike.
Smartwheel says the top speed is about 85 km/h and, in the same block, that it can leave the factory limited to 32 km/h. Thirty-two kilometers an hour is 20 mph. That is a governor, the same kind of line Voro prints on an Ultra Bee. It does not make the MX4 a Class 2 e-bike. There are no bicycle pedals in this spec, and 8 kilowatts is not “less than 750 watts.” The class chart does not include it. A bike path is the wrong place. The head-to-head with the Light Bee is a different article: MX4 versus Light Bee X. This page is the sheet.
Who it is for
Buy it if you want the Talaria with the 2,700 watt-hour pack and the gearbox, you have somewhere legal to ride a dirt bike, and you will believe the cart in front of you instead of a single $4,899 cell in a ranking table. $3,499 to $3,699 is one US card. $3,799 to $4,500 is another. $4,899 is the Dirt Bike Store’s May 2026 price. C$5,999 is a Canadian dealer. The Sting MX5 Pro, on a comparison table on one of those US cards, is the 72-volt bike with a higher peak. It is not this row. The MX3 is the older, smaller-pack Talaria. Do not buy an MX3 listing because the photo says Sting.
Use 75 miles only as the slow-cruise claim, about 15 or 16 mph, with no rider weight attached. A hard trail will not do that on 2,700 watt-hours. Seventy-five miles is about 36 watt-hours a mile if you divide 2,700 by 75. That is the claim, not a loop. The Ultra Bee is the bigger, heavier, 24.5 kilowatt machine. The Light Bee is the lighter Sur-Ron with the deeper parts bin. The MX4 is the middle one, and only if the VIN on the crate matches the 60-volt 45-amp-hour sheet, not the 82-kilogram page.
Questions people ask
Is the Talaria Sting R MX4 a Class 2 e-bike?+
No. The agreeing sheets say 8 kW peak and a gearbox, not bicycle pedals under 750 watts. A factory limit of 32 km/h on one Canadian card is a governor, not Class 2.
How much torque does the MX4 make?+
The dealer sheets that agree print 45 Nm, or at least 45, at the motor. Dirt Bike Store printed 520 Nm at the wheel versus 440 on a Light Bee, and got that Light Bee’s battery wrong. Do not treat 520 as a dyno.
How far does the Sting R MX4 go?+
The cruise claim on the agreeing cards is about 75 miles or 120 km at roughly 15 to 16 mph, with no rider weight. That is not a hard trail loop. The pack is 60V 45Ah, 2,700Wh.
How much does a Sting R MX4 cost?+
One US card prints $3,499 to $3,699. Another prints $3,799 to $4,500. Dirt Bike Store’s May 1, 2026 ranking printed $4,899. A Canadian dealer printed C$5,999. The cart is the price.
