By SickEBike desk
The short answer
The Stark Varg SM Sköll is a 500-unit all-black Varg SM supermoto: $14,990, 80 hp Alpha, 674 lb-ft claimed, 272 lb, 7.2 kWh, first deliveries October 2026. Titanium pegs and bolts save 2.4 lb. It is a street motorcycle — license, plate, insurance — not a Class 1–3 e-bike. No independent Sköll range loop yet; Cycle World’s SM test was 54 miles mixed to empty.
The Stark Varg SM Sköll is the limited-edition blackout of Stark Future’s street-legal electric supermoto, announced from Barcelona on 15–16 September 2026. Five hundred numbered bikes worldwide, no second run, $14,990 in the U.S. (€14,990 / £12,990 / AUD 21,990), first deliveries October 2026. It is the Varg SM with every eligible part taken to black, 3D-printed titanium footpegs (−140 g), a full titanium bolt kit (−900 g), black-anodized laser-engraved triple clamps, and Alpha as standard: 80 hp and claimed 914 Nm / 674 lb-ft at the rear wheel, with tunable Dynamic Traction Control. Claimed wet weight is 123.4 kg / 272 lb — 1.1 kg / 2.4 lb under the standard SM. Cycle News printed the press sheet. Electrek, New Atlas, Gear Patrol, Motorcycle.com, and Robb Report ran it the same week. This is not a Class 1, 2, or 3 e-bike. It is a motorcycle with a 7.2 kWh pack, a 36.8-inch seat, Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV 17s, and a license plate. A Sur-Ron Light Bee X is the dirt cousin people confuse it with. Do not put this on a bike path.
The all-blacked-out Varg SM Sköll rides in that same darkness: 500 wolves, blacked out, built to chase anything ahead of them. — Stark Future, 16 September 2026.

What the Sköll actually is
Stark Future is the Barcelona company that put an 80 hp carbon-sleeved motor into a motocross chassis and called it the Varg MX, then an enduro (EX), then a supermoto (SM) in October 2025. The SM is the street one: 17-inch Alpina-spoke wheels, a Brembo Stylema four-piston and 320 mm Galfer up front, DOT lights, a 36.8-inch seat instead of the EX’s 39. Sköll is not a new platform. Same high-strength steel frame, carbon-fiber front subframe, 7.2 kWh honeycomb-magnesium structural pack, single-speed (no clutch, no gearbox), carbon-fiber-sleeved SPM motor with the inverter in the can. What you pay the extra for is the blackout process (anodize, powder, deep black — not a vinyl wrap), the titanium, the numbered clamps, and Alpha included so you are not writing a $1,000 software check after the crate. The gold ultra-wide-ring RK MXU 520 and the gold fork stanchions stay gold because Stark said they like a bit of gold. The rest is the wolf.

This is not an e-bike
Federal bicycle law (15 U.S.C. § 2085) wants fully operable pedals, a motor under 750 watts, and under 20 mph on motor alone with a 170 lb rider. The Sköll has pegs, not a commute crank. Eighty horsepower is about 60 kW — eighty times the CPSC ceiling. Claimed top speed on the SM platform is 96 mph (Robb Report, citing the standard SM). Class 1–3 does not apply. Speed-limit tables for Pinellas 20 and Riverwalk 15 do not apply. This is a motorcycle: registration, insurance, a motorcycle endorsement in most U.S. states, DOT lighting, a plate. New Atlas (Oct 2025 SM launch) said the SM is road-legal in Europe, Australia, New Zealand, and “parts of the United States.” Confirm the VIN and the DMV before you wire $14,990. A Tuttio on a bike path is already a motor-vehicle case. A Sköll on a bike path is a different statute and a worse idea.
Alpha, 80 hp, and that torque number
Alpha is Stark’s top map: 80 hp peak, same 674 lb-ft / 914 Nm claimed at the rear wheel after the reduction, Dynamic Traction Control, and the power/regen curves you can move from the bar while moving. Stock SM without Alpha is 60 hp. Motorcycle.com (Nov 2025) priced Alpha at $1,000 on the SM; Sköll includes it. The motor is a carbon-fiber-sleeved surface permanent magnet with the inverter in the housing, 360 V on the motor side, pack at 420 V — Cycle News printed both numbers; they are not a contradiction, they are the pack versus the inverter. Single speed. No clutch. No gearbox. That is why testers talk about wheelies off every rise and why a Sur-Ron owner who maps an EBMX still is not in this conversation. A Light Bee is ~10 kW on a 60-volt trail frame. This is 80 hp on a 272 lb street chassis. Do not flash a FarDriver onto a 360 V Stark. At your own risk; work with a Stark dealer. A wrong map on this voltage is not a toasted hub. It is a very expensive brick and a fire conversation.
Battery, charge, and the range that is not 113 miles of wheelies
7.2 kWh is 7,200 watt-hours — roughly ten Lectric XP4 long-range packs, or nine Muxi Pros. The pack is structural honeycomb magnesium, not a bottle in a downtube. Portable 3.3 kW / 16 A brick: two hours on 240 V, 3.5 hours on 120 V. The charger stand in the ads is not in the crate. Claimed range: 113 miles urban, 73 suburban, 50 WMTC. Cycle World (Blake Conner, 16 Oct 2025) on the standard SM around Barcelona: day one mixed mountain + highway, 54 miles to empty, “aligns perfectly with Stark’s claims for that type of ride”; day two ~44 miles urban/highway with 38% left. That is the only named independent-ish loop this desk will cite, and it is the SM, not the Sköll. New Atlas’s 10–15% real-world haircut is the honest one if you live in Alpha. Watt-hours still win: 7.2 kWh times how hard you wring 80 hp. A supermoto commute is not Eco on a Class 2. Charge it like a motorcycle pack, indoors, on the matched brick. Battery-fire rules still apply — lithium does not care that the bike costs fifteen grand.

Titanium, 2.4 pounds, and what that is worth
3D-printed titanium footpegs save 140 g. The bolt kit saves 900 g. Total 1.1 kg / 2.4 lb, 272 lb claimed versus 274.5. Motorcycle.com and Cycle News both note the grams are in controls and fasteners, not unsprung or rotating mass, so damping and wheel control are the SM’s, not a new chassis. You are buying a numbered object and a blackout process. If you wanted 80 hp and the SM chassis without the wolf, the Alpha SM at $13,900 (Cycle World) is the math. Sköll is $1,090 more than that Alpha sticker for the titanium, the clamps, and the 500. Whether 2.4 lb is “felt every time you brake, turn and change direction” (Stark’s line) is a press sentence. The power-to-weight was already the point of the SM: New Atlas (2025 launch) called 0.479 kW/kg the highest of any production supermoto at 80 hp / 124.5 kg. Sköll moves that a rounding error.
KYB, Brembo, Pirelli — the SM chassis Sköll did not change
KYB 48 mm closed-cartridge coil fork, compression and rebound, 11.4 inches. KYB triple-adjuster shock (preload, high/low compression, rebound), 11.9 inches. Springs are picked for your weight at order; Stark’s product page lists a medium setting for 165–209 lb. Brembo four-piston, 320 mm front; single-piston 220 mm rear; optional bar-mounted rear brake for people who learned on minis. Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV 120/70-17 and 140/70-17 stock; SM buyers could option Dunlop SportSmart TT, Michelin Road 6, Anlas Grip Plus. Seat is a simil-Alcantara cover on an MX-narrow perch — Motorcycle.com’s first-ride ding was “straddling a fence,” and the Sköll does not grow a touring saddle. Ground clearance 12.3 inches. Motorcycle.com scored the 2025 SM 86/100: engine 18/20, brakes 7/10 (“front brake performance is lackluster” relative to the speed), no ABS. Sköll’s new trick on the aid side is Dynamic Traction Control across modes. Do not treat that as ABS. At your own risk; a supermoto on a Diablo in the wet is still a motorcycle you can highside. Work with a dealer for the spring and the bleed. Sur-Ron brakes are a different caliper conversation on a 140 lb dirt bike.

Street kit, lights, Arkenstone
Road-legal supermoto means indicators, a plate, and a headlight you can actually aim. Stark’s launch film for Sköll calls out the North Star 4,000-lumen lamp — that is motorcycle lighting, not a 90-lumen e-bike glowworm, and it is why this bike can be a night tool if your state titles it. Cycle World noted Euro-spec signals in the crate look better than the U.S. DOT set. Arkenstone is the Android display: turn-by-turn on/off-road, offline maps, GPX, lap timing, OTA, crawl-reverse, layered digital security. That is the antitheft pitch on a $15k object people will steal. Two locks do not replace a titled motorcycle with a tracker. Helmets and lights on this desk are bicycle kit; here you want a motorcycle helmet (DOT/ECE), jacket, gloves, boots. Motorcycle.com’s test kit was Shoei X-Fourteen and Alpinestars because 80 hp on 17s is not a beginner e-bike.
Sköll vs the standard Varg SM
Buy the SM Alpha if you want the ride and will pick a color. Buy Sköll if you want the numbered blackout and the titanium and you accept $14,990 against $13,900 Alpha. Geometry, pack, motor, brakes, tires, seat height: identical. What is not identical: every clamp, stem, swingarm, motor cover, inverter case, dock, map switch, and charge cap taken to black; 3D Ti pegs; Ti bolts; engraved numbered triples; Alpha + DTC in the crate. Electrek (Mikey, 15 Sept 2026) had already ridden the standard SM around Barcelona and called Sköll “the crazy experience… a bit crazier” on power-to-weight. Gear Patrol’s line was honest: not a transformative treatment, a choice spec and an exclusive status. That is the review you should expect. There is no independent Sköll dyno or range loop as of 22 September 2026. Treat 80 hp and 113 miles as the SM’s numbers in a darker suit.
Vs Sur-Ron, Talaria, and the rest of the dirt aisle
A 2026 Light Bee X is a ~140 lb, ~10 kW, 19/18 trail e-moto, often $4–5k, off-road, aftermarket forever, not street in most U.S. cities without a kit that still fails the bicycle test. A Talaria Sting MX4 is ~145 lb, ~8 kW, bigger tank, gearbox, the MX stocker. A Tuttio is a 14/12 mini. The Sköll is 272 lb, 80 hp, 17-inch Diablos, Brembo 320, a title, and $15k before tax. It will destroy a Light Bee on pavement and look silly in a whoop section the Bee was built for. LiveWire’s S4 / Dust Moto purchase and Bonnell’s 805 RX ($8,250, 54 hp, Forbes 16 Sept 2026) are the 2026 street/off-road answers people will put next to a Varg. None of them are a Lectric. If the job is a bike-path commute, you want the beginner’s guide and a Class 2. If the job is a plated supermoto that wheelies in first (there is only first), this is the bike Stark just limited to 500.
Price, 500 units, October
Stark Future store: $14,990.00. Cycle News, New Atlas, Robb Report, Motorcycle.com all printed the 500 cap and October 2026 first deliveries. Mixvale noted the UK sticker is £1,000 over the base SM. Orders at starkfuture.com or a dealer; the charger stand in the hero shots is extra. Medium suspension for 165–209 lb unless you tell them otherwise. This desk does not have a remaining-allocation number as of 22 September — Electrek’s line was that Stark’s sell-through means 500 will not sit. A limited motorcycle is not an investment thesis. It is a 272 lb, 80 hp object you have to insure. If the dealer cannot title it in your state, walk.
Who should buy one — and who should not
Buy Sköll if you already wanted a Varg SM, you have a motorcycle license, you have a place that is not a wooden porch to charge 7.2 kWh, and you want the numbered black one. Do not buy it as an e-bike, a Sur-Ron upgrade that stays on the Pinellas Trail, or a first vehicle. The Muxi Pro that went on sale today is $1,999.99 and still a bicycle. The Sköll is fifteen thousand dollars of street motorcycle that happens to be quiet. Mods, maps, and charger experiments: at your own risk, with a professional, on a dealer firmware. SickEBike is not a Stark shop. If you only remember one line: 500 bikes, $14,990, 80 hp, 272 lb, October 2026, not Class 3, not a bike path, titanium pegs included, independent Sköll test still not published.
Questions people ask
What is the Stark Varg SM Sköll?+
A 500-unit limited blackout of Stark’s street-legal Varg SM: 80 hp Alpha, 7.2 kWh, 272 lb, $14,990, October 2026 deliveries. Titanium pegs/bolts and numbered clamps. Not an e-bike.
Is the Sköll an e-bike or Class 3?+
No. 80 hp and no bicycle pedals fail 15 U.S.C. § 2085 and Class 1–3. It is a motorcycle: title, insurance, endorsement. Bike paths do not apply.
How much is the Stark Varg SM Sköll?+
$14,990 U.S. (€14,990, £12,990, AUD 21,990). Standard SM starts ~$12,900; Alpha ~$13,900. Sköll includes Alpha plus the blackout and titanium.
How many Sköll bikes will Stark build?+
500 numbered worldwide. Stark said no second run. First deliveries October 2026 from Barcelona.
How far does the Varg SM go?+
Claimed 113 urban / 73 suburban / 50 WMTC miles. Cycle World on the standard SM: 54 miles mixed Barcelona roads to empty. No Sköll-specific loop as of 22 Sept 2026.
How does it compare to a Sur-Ron Light Bee?+
Different product. Light Bee is ~140 lb, ~10 kW, 19/18 dirt. Sköll is 272 lb, 80 hp, 17-inch Diablos, plated supermoto. Pavement vs trail. Neither is Class 2.
Does Sköll have traction control?+
Yes — Dynamic Traction Control across ride modes, tunable, part of Alpha. 2025 SM testers still flagged no ABS. DTC is not a combined-braking system.
Should I do these mods or repairs myself?+
Do this at your own risk. Work with a qualified ebike or e-moto technician for wiring, batteries, brakes, and controller maps. SickEBike is an informational desk, not a shop. A wrong amp limit, a mismatched charger, or a bad bleed can start a fire or a crash.

Sur-Ron Light Bee X: Everything You Need to Know
2026 MY26 is 10 kW, 72V 35Ah, 130 lb, claimed 50 mph. It is an e-moto, not a Class 3. The aftermarket is still the second bike.
SEP 20, 2026

Talaria Sting R MX4 vs Sur-Ron Light Bee X
MX4 is the better bike stock. Light Bee MY26 is the better platform to build. 8 kW gearbox versus 10 kW belt, 145 lb versus 130. Same legal bucket: not a Class 3.
SEP 20, 2026

What Is a Class 1, 2, and 3 E-Bike?
Class 1 is pedal-assist to 20. Class 2 adds a throttle to 20. Class 3 is pedal-assist to 28. A Tuttio is none of these. The sticker is not the trail.
